How Much Does a British Shorthair Kitten Cost in Florida?
What a pedigreed British Shorthair kitten costs in Florida in 2026, what drives the price, and what should be included when you buy from a registered breeder.

A pedigreed British Shorthair kitten from a registered Florida cattery typically costs $2,000 to $3,000 for a pet home. Rare colors such as golden and silver chinchilla sit at the upper end of that range, and breeding rights cost more.
At PrettyBrity our current pet prices are:
- Silver British Shorthair: $2,200 – $2,600
- Golden British Shorthair: $2,400 – $2,800
- Munchkin: from $2,500
- Delivery within Florida: from $200
What drives the price
Color and pattern
Classic blue is the most widely bred British color. Golden (ny 11, ny 12) and silver (ns 11, ns 12) shaded and chinchilla coats are much harder to produce well: breeders need carefully matched lines to get a clean undercoat, even tipping and green eyes. That extra selection is reflected in the price.
Pedigree and registration
A registered kitten comes with documented ancestry through TICA or another major association. That paper trail is how you know you are getting a British Shorthair — and not a lookalike.
Health work behind the litter
Responsible breeders screen their cats before breeding and raise kittens with veterinary care, vaccinations and deworming. These costs are real and are built into the price of every kitten.
Age at go-home
Responsible catteries keep kittens with their mother until at least 8 weeks, and many families take their kitten home between 8 and 14 weeks. Those weeks of socialization, feeding and vet care cost money, and they make a big difference to how confident and healthy your kitten is when it arrives.
What should be included
When you pay for a pedigreed kitten, you should receive:
- Registration papers or an application for registration
- Vaccination and deworming records
- Copies of the kitten’s veterinary records
- An official Florida health certificate from a licensed veterinarian (required by state law)
- A kitten that is already litter-box trained
Red flags
Be careful with very low prices, kittens offered younger than 8 weeks, no registration, no video calls, and sellers who ask for full payment before you have seen the kitten live. A legitimate breeder will always be happy to show you the kitten and its parents on a video call. Read more in our guide to kitten scams and how to avoid them.
