The pattern
Marble is the breeders’ name for the blotched or classic tabby pattern — 22 in an EMS code. A good marble has wide, unbroken swirls: a “butterfly” across the shoulders, a bullseye on each side and clean rings on the legs and tail. Because it is a pattern rather than a color, it combines with almost any color: silver marble (ns 22), golden marble (ny 22), blue marble (a 22), cinnamon marble (o 22) and more.
Eye color follows the coat: silver and golden marbles usually have green or hazel eyes, while marbles in the classic colors have copper eyes.
What we look for
- Wide, clear swirls with strong contrast and good symmetry
- A clean ground color without brindling
- Classic British type and a dense, plush coat
